Engaging in the Political Process
In Milford, the political landscape is steered by the Republican Town Committee (RTC) and the Democratic Town Committee (DTC), each consisting of approximately 150 – 200 representatives from across all five districts in Milford. These committees meet monthly and play a crucial role in shaping local positions and managing party affairs during their two-year terms. This week, both parties will convene caucuses to select the Town Committee members who will lead the way for the next two years, ultimately influencing the slate of candidates in the 2025 municipal elections.
Registered party members have the opportunity to participate actively. Attendees can not only vote, but also nominate themselves or others to serve on Town Committees.

Ensure your eligibility by checking your voter registration status here. If you’re a registered voter with a CT driver’s license, you can conveniently change your party affiliation online here.
Any change of affiliation must be processed by Milford’s Republican or Democrat registrar of voters before you can enjoy party privileges. If you switch from one political party to another, you must wait 90 days before you can enjoy party privileges, but those who are unaffiliated and wish to join a party will have privileges as soon as their registration is processed by the registrar. Registrations are typically processed the same day if received before 1 pm on weekdays.
You can also register your affiliation in person at the Registrar of Voters office, Monday – Friday, 9 am – 1 pm, Parsons Government Center 70 W River Street in Milford.
